The art of thoughtful gifting

The art of thoughtful gifting

Christmas is here… And for me, the beauty of this season has always been in the little things: the moments that invite us to slow down, the joy of a handmade detail, and the gift that feels truly personal.

At Elizabeth Scarlett, we believe gifting is an art, made up of thoughtful touches that make every moment feel magical.

This year, we’re celebrating the artisans who share that same spirit - our Joy Makers. Four incredible women who have reimagined our iconic designs through their own craft, transforming familiar motifs into something beautifully their own.

Their work reminds me why I began Elizabeth Scarlett: to honour nature, cherish beauty, and fill the world with keepsakes of joy.

I hope their stories inspire you to gift with heart this Christmas.

Love, Elizabeth x

Meg Fatharly, Artist & Maker of tin decorations

“Magic isn’t always loud or glittering. It hides in the handmade - in the moments that resist rush and automation.”

Through her intricate work with tin, Meg's designs remind us that the smallest details - the touch of a hand, a handwritten note, a smudge of ink - can hold the greatest meaning. Every piece she creates shimmers with light, life and individuality, turning ordinary moments into something magical. She
has created a collection of intricate tin decorations inspired by our Golden Trinkets designs

Dee Omole, Pastry Chef & Founder at Dee’s Basement

“For me, joy is all in the little extras. A handwritten note, a ribbon that feels nice to untie, something homemade tucked in.”

Inspired by our Bow and classic Honey Bee design, from her kitchen in East London Dee has baked beautiful handmade madeleines painted in chocolate with gold details. More than cakes, each of Dee’s creations are tiny, edible works of art, capturing the feeling of warmth, whimsy and the way in which baking invites togetherness. Her creations celebrate the joy of giving something personal, meant to be savoured and shared.

Alice Edwards, Founder of Memo Press

“I believe that it's the wrapping that makes something a gift. Something wonderful but modest transforms with beautiful paper and ribbon, and bows are essential.”

Alice is the founder of Memo Press, a heartfelt independent stationers that produces wrapping paper, note cards and more inspired by hand-painting, illustration, calligraphy and the beauty of the human touch. Every Memo Press design celebrates the timelessness, beauty and nostalgia in the art of gift-wrapping. Each fold, flourish and brushstroke grounded in the belief that smallest gifts can be personal, artful, and made to be cherished.

This Christmas Alice and Elizabeth have created wrapping paper adorned with their watercolour bows, bird, and celestial motifs.
