The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust exists to protect Africa’s wildlife and to preserve habitats for the future of all wild species. Best known for the Orphan's Project, the first and most successful orphan elephant rescue and rehabilitation program in the world. Successfully raising 262 baby elephants who have lost their mothers, most often at the hands of humans, as they and the orphaned rhinos also housed there struggle against the threat of poaching for their ivory and horn, and the loss of habitat due to human population pressures and conflict, deforestation and drought.
